Pillar Three
Operational
Excellence
Is your organisational structure working?
Are all processes being followed fully?
What are your true business constraints?
Operational excellence means your back-office runs so smoothly, you don’t even know it’s there.
Keeping your business running at peak operational excellence is the difference between a business that’s doing OK and a business that’s really thriving. Getting this right shouldn’t be taking 120% of your day.
Achieving OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE means focusing on:
PLANNING
This is the high-level structuring that will guide all operations. It involves the "boring" things like org charts, process flows, controls, systems and outcomes. These things may seem mundane but they're the guidance and building blocks needed for clarity and flow.
IMPLEMENTING
Here the focus Is on internal checks and balances to make sure that all processes are being followed. This could include workshops with staff, formalising reporting lines, documenting KPIs and rolling out job aids and resources to the company.
MONITORING
If only businesses operated in a vacuum. Then there would be no need to tweak, adjust and change. But that is not the case, which means a constant need to assess and review operational processes, and adjust and respond as appropriate. Agility Is a good bedfellow of efficiency.
